Some people ask us, why that strange name, Strangefruit?
The name goes back to the early days of the company. In the late-90's the internet broke through as a mass medium. At that time there was a clear separation between, on the one hand, the technicians who were playing out in the technical possibilities of the new medium but had no attention for the lay-out, and on the other hand, the designers who only had eye for the design, but produced malfunctioning, heavy loading websites.
a better balance
We felt that a better balance between technology and design should be possible. So in 2000 Strangefruit.nl emerged from a collaboration of designers and engineers that have their roots in the visual arts.
With our background we could offer the best of both worlds, a strong visual concept combined with advanced technical knowledge. The combination made us a strange fruit in the world of design. Hence the name.
Today we make the most advanced internet applications, but our ambition never changed.
